Weddings are the easiest thing you can spend thousands on and not even realize it. Not even that, but you feel so stressed the entire time because maybe you don't even have the money so you are charging your credit card here and there for everything big.
You can have the wedding of your dreams on a budget. You can most definitely have a wedding for $3,000 instead of $30,000. Here's how.
1. FOOD- DIY or find a Sole person who runs a food catering biz!
I have heard a lot of couples who get their families to cook for their wedding, and that can be stressful too, but wayyyyyy cheaper. So if you are really on a low low budget, this may be the best way to go! You don't have to pay for servers, everything is buffet self serve, and you can have more options for less money. But be careful, if your wedding is at a wedding venue, they may require a professional caterer who has a business license. This option only really works if it's a private wedding/elopement on personal land. Another option is to find a caterer who is in their own catering business and not cooking for a restaurant. Restaurants can get pricey as heck, especially with service charges, tax, gratuity, and often offer way less of options than what you personally want. For our wedding, I found a BBQ Champion through our wedding venue. I went to look at his Facebook page to see how legit he was, and if he had good reviews since he did cater weddings, and his reviews were OUTSTANDING. Literally, allllll of the reviews he had from past couples who used him for their wedding were all 5 star ratings. I inquired with this man and I literally had so many options of food to choose from and was able to get so much on our menu, for 1/3 of the price restaurants were telling me. This included service, his business license, and plates/cups/silverware/drinks/etc. It was insane! I promise, all you have to do is RESEARCH and you will find affordable but great food for your guests.
2. DECOR- DIY ALL THE WAY.
Whether you have DIY things before or not, Youtube and Pinterest will be your best friends for this. You can easily make your own wedding decor from items all over amazon, dollar tree, michaels, etc. on COUPONS too! Michaels is always running coupons and can save you a ton of money. Instead of hiring someone to make your wedding signs, try and practice your handwriting yourself and make them...or get a friend who has pretty handwriting to make them! You can find a lot of pins that help you learn how to make a photo backdrop wall, or how to set a table for guests, and so much more by searching on Youtube or Pinterest. If you go thrift shopping, you can usually find great furniture pieces or fun little knick knacks for your decor as well.
3. FLORAL- FOR YOU AND THE GALS
Order in bulk at Sam's Club, Costco, Trader Joe's, or if you want fake floral then Michael's... and spend one night before the wedding with your girls and make your own bouquets. This is such a sweet and fun time with the girls before you get married. You can save so much money if you make your own bouquets and also gives you a chance to have a fun wine night. A lot of people don't realize that if you order in Bulk at one of those stores...your flowers for the entire wedding could be like $300 (less or more depending on your taste)...whereas some florists charge $300 just for a bridal bouquet. Youtube has a TON of videos on how to DIY a floral arrangement and it is SO fun to watch. Another option is find someone who is just starting out in their floral biz and willing to create arrangements for your wedding to build their portfolio work!
4. WEDDING INVITATIONS-
If you like being funky and getting creative, DIY invites are a thing, and they're honestly fun as heck. I am always making graphics for my Insta and other social media, so one day I decided why not try to make my own invitations for a party I was hosting, and it was SO MUCH FUN. I was able to do
My BIGGEST tip of all is if you really really are on a budget, YOU CAN MAKE IT WORK.
Find vendors who are just starting out and offer lower prices and discounts to get work for their portfolio, or simply just diggg a ton in the wedding industry world and find people that have a passion for these jobs but don't do it as a business. I know brides who have their cake made by a woman in church who likes to bake, or a girl on Instagram who you see creates bouquets and arrangements for their home all the time but haven't made it a business yet.
